Practice Sight Reading - 2024 Redesign

Sight reading is the ability to read and perform a piece of sheet music correctly on the first attempt. PracticeSightReading.com aids musicians in enhancing this skill by generating random pieces of sheet music for practice. The free tier offers simple rhythms for users, while the paid version introduces melodies for more advanced practice.

In the spring of 2024, I released the next version of the site, completely recoded from scratch. The previous iteration was written in PHP and used MySQL but was starting to show its age. The new version was entirely rewritten using Next.js for the frontend and Node.js for the server.

The site now employs Supabase as its authentication provider, integrated with Stripe for payment processing. Since its launch, the new design has led to increased sign-ups and conversions.
